About Regional Director, Central Region, Bhopal

The Regional Director office, Central Region, Bhopal was established in the year 2009. Archaeological Survey of India created five Regional Directorates of Northern, Eastern, Western, Southern and Central Region of them Central Regional Directorate established in headquarter at Bhopal with the objectives to administer manage and supervise the work of the Circles under this office. Four Circles namely Bhopal, Lucknow, Raipur and Sarnath Circle and one branch namely Temple Survey Project (Northern Region), Bhopal comes under the jurisdiction of the Regional Directorate of Central.


About Archaeological Survey of India

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), under the Ministry of Culture, is the premier organization for the archaeological researches and protection of the cultural heritage of the nation. Maintenance of ancient monuments and archaeological sites and remains of national importance is the prime concern of the ASI. Besides it regulate all archaeological activities in the country as per the provisions of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. It also regulates Antiquities and Art Treasure Act, 1972.
