The Regional Director Office, Central Region, Bhopal was established in the year 2009. Archaeological Survey of India created five Regional Directorates of Northern, Eastern, Western, Southern and Central Region of them Central Regional Directorate established in headquarter at Bhopal with the objectives to administer manage and supervise the work of the Circles under this office. Four Circles namely Bhopal, Lucknow, Raipur and Sarnath Circle and one branch namely Temple Survey Project (Northern Region), Bhopal comes under the jurisdiction of the Regional Directorate of Central.
